I died in hell.....they called it Passchendaele....
On 31st July 1917 the British and French launched a massive offensive in the area around Ypres in the Belgian province of Flanders. The third battle of Ypres known in later years as Passchendaele. The army was the largest Britain had ever fielded and men from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Southern Rhodesia, India, Newfoundland and the Caribbean all served alongside British units and shared in the hardships of the battle.
