'Belgian Refugees in Ladock' by Margaret Walker
On 1st January 1915 the Belgian refugee family of Madame Roelandt and her three children arrived in Ladock from their rural town of Alost.
They were offered accommodation in the Wesleyan Sunday School. Essential and comfortable furniture was donated by various local families and weekly donations of food were collected and given to them.
They returned to Belgium in 1919.
Margaret Walker has recently been in contact with Madame Rolandt's grandchildren who were delighted to find out about their family history.
