Benefice Bulletin for Trinity 2,Sunday 13th June 2021

The Benefice of Probus, Ladock, Grampound with Creed and St Erme

Momentous events can often happen when walking along a road or path. The apostle Paul on the road to Damascus was blinded by his encounter with the risen Christ. Similarly Cleopas walks with Jesus on the road to Emmaus and experiences his heart 'burning' as Jesus explained the scriptures to him. Many have had similar experiences over the years during pilgrimages both near and far.
Within the space of two days during the next couple of weeks there will be two separate opportunities to walk in faith in our beautiful county alongside other Christians. The Young Christians Climate Network, walking from Carbis Bay to Glasgow, will be passing through our patch on the 18th of June and the day after on the 19th, South West Awake will be forming a chain of prayer and praise along the coastpath (details of both below). If you are able, I'd encourage you to 'step out' on these or other pilgrimages this summer - who knows who you may meet on the way, even Christ.

Collect

Lord, you have taught us
that all our doings without love are nothing worth:
send your Holy Spirit
and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love,
the true bond of peace and of all virtues,
without which whoever lives is counted dead before you.
Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Upcoming Events

Paul's First Communion

On the 27th of June there will be a single team service across the benefice which will be at Probus at 11:00 am where Rev. Paul will be celebrating his first communion after his priesting the day before. Weather permitting, this will be followed a picnic lunch in the sanctuary garden (please bring your own as we are not sure if we can share by that point).

YCCN Relay to COP26

A small group of young Christians who are passionate about making a stand on climate change, are planning to walk between Carbis Bay, where the G7 is currently happening, and Glasgow where the COP26 Climate Change Conference will be happening later this year. They will be coming through our patch on Friday the 18th of June, starting in Truro and ending in Grampound. The hope is that they will pass through Tresillian and then Probus around lunchtime. Rev. Paul will be walking with them on to Grampound and the offer is open to anyone else from our churches (whether young or not so young) who wishes to join them on the way. If you are interested then email Paul at Curate@probusteam.com or visit their website at https://www.yccn.uk/

South West Awake

This initiative seeks to form a chain of prayer and praise across the South West along our coast paths on the 19th of June. If you are interested then visit: https://www.southwestawake.com/

Youth Group

The long awaited Probus area church youth group first met last week and much fun was had by all. The next meeting will be on the 20th of June. If you think you might be able to help or have a child or grandchild of secondary age who you may wish to register, then please contact Christine at salaman_pandc@yahoo.co.uk
