Howard and Jacqui's Intercessions for Sunday 18th July 2021

Prayers for Sunday 18th July 2021.

God of peace, whose son Jesus Christ returned from the dead to become the Great Shepherd of your sheep, guide us into the ways of peace and mercy, equip us to do everything that is good and build us up to a holy dwelling-place for you our God; through the same Christ, who with you and the Holy Spirit are one God, now and forever. Amen.

Holy Father, empower all whom you have called to be bishops, pastors and teachers to be good shepherds of your flock.

Give them wisdom and vision in the leading of young people.

We pray for any who are seeking out the straying and the lost, those who are offering new hope and courage to the despairing.

Faithful shepherd

Here us and guide us.

Give guidance to all who seek to guide or reconcile others;

Protect all who are working with divided peoples,

All peace-keeping forces and those who seek to maintain order.

Direct all who work as Samaritans or in marriage guidance.

Faithful Shepherd,

Hear us and Guide us.

We pray for those in South Africa whose lives are in disarray as a result of violent riots and looting.

May order soon be restored and Good Shepherd we ask your protection on the many innocent caught up in the violence.

We pray for the families of those who have lost their lives or are missing as a result of flooding in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Protect those who have lost their homes and businesses and give strength to all involved in the clean-up and restoration of normal life.

Faithful Shepherd

Hear us and guide us.

Surround with your love all who are having difficulties with their relationships.

We pray for all who are feeling betrayed or neglected,

For all who are suffering from marriage breakdown,

For children of broken homes or homes of hatred and violence.

Faithful Shepherd

Hear us and guide us.

Good Shepherd, be with all who are harassed and helpless,

all who feel alienated or hostile,

those like sheep without a shepherd.

We remember all who have lost their way,

all fallen into vice or wickedness;

that all may know the love and care of the Good Shepherd.

Faithful Shepherd,

Hear us and guide us.

Good Shepherd, we pray for all who are ill in body mind or spirit, anoint them with your oil of healing. We pray in particular forRosie and Richard, Judy and Stuart, Barbara and Ian, Gail and David, Mary and Stanley and Ruan.   Also for the Reardon family, John, John John, Jamie, Julie, Karen and Charlie, recently bereaved.

Faithful Shepherd,

Hear us and guide us.

We rejoice in the ending of lockdown restrictions from tomorrow but, Good Shepherd, we know that Covid will be around for a long time and we need your protection, and wisdom particularly in managing the uncertainty of what precautions are sensible even if not mandatory and realising that many more will be seriously ill, and die, both here and across the world. Show us the part that we can play in restoring confidence in our society.

Faithful Shepherd

Hear us and guide us.

We rejoice with all who are in the safety of your keeping, for all the saints in glory.

We pray for all our loved ones departed, may they rest in peace and rise in glory,

And that we may come to share with them in eternal life.

Faithful Shepherd.

Hear us and guide us.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
