Ladock News September 2026
Dear Friends and Neighbours,
For many of us, September feels like the start of a new year. Shaped by the academic calendar, we carry that rhythm with us as children, students and adults begin something new whether that be nursery, school, college, university, work, retirement, or another season of life.
Change is part of life. As summer gives way to Autumn, trees and fields bring us the fruit of their labour and we gather to celebrate harvest with thankfulness. Although many of us are far removed from the growing and provision of food, we still enjoy a plentiful choice, whether it is locally grown and seasonal or brought from much further away.
At harvest we pause to give thanks for the many things we tend to take for granted. We often get upset when what we want isn’t available in our local shop yet we seldom think beyond our own annoyance, we don’t give a thought to the struggles of farmers and manufacturers that are involved in the process of getting it to our homes. So, this year we will be pausing and giving thanks to all those involved with the production and provision of the very many items -foodstuffs, clothing, homeware etc.
You are warmly welcome to join any of our church services as we celebrate harvest. As a token of thankfulness, we invite you to bring an offering for the foodbank, thereby helping neighbours who need confidential support mindful that any one of us may need a helping hand at some point.
