Intercessions 11th January 2026
Feast of St Ladoca
Heavenly Father we ask that you are with us as we pray this morning on our happy festival day.
We give thanks for St Ladoca, for her bravery in travelling over the sea, bringing the love of You through your Son Jesus Christ to the people of Cornwall living in this place. We know so little of her but know she founded our church. We offer prayers for all who have followed her through the centuries, later building this church, worshipping and praying here.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us.
We thank you for the clergy and worship leaders who over the centuries kept faith, led worship and nurtured the flock of fledgling Christians through challenging times, giving us a firm foundation for our own worship. We hold up to you all the clergy who lead us in worship today, praying for strength of purpose, strength of body and mind, strong in their love of you and your work, for which they are your hands.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us.
As St Ladoca brought your Word to this place, help us find more ways to bring your love to those who don’t know you. We thank you that so many came to Christmas services here, to this blessed building to hear the Christmas story.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us
Lord we know that St Ladoca came at a time in history when there were relentless invasions and wars for territory, as there is still today. We pray for peace and understanding throughout the world. In all areas of strife, create calm we pray.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us
As Jesus was baptised by John, perhaps new Christians were baptised in the water of St Ladoca’s well. Make us new in our faith every day, valuing whatever peace we have, water that is clean to drink, food to eat and every day hearing birds sing.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us.
Early Christians may have come to St Ladoca’s well for healing. Father in heaven, bless and heal all who suffer in body, mind or spirit. Give peace and strength to all who are ill or bereaved and bless those who care for them: Brenda at the loss of Alan, victims of tragedy, all known to us and those known only to you.
Lord hear us
Lord graciously hear us
Heavenly Father we remember with love St Ladoca and the great gift she gave us. We lift to you all who have died in the past few weeks, remembering Alan Blake.
May they rest now in peace and rise in glory
Heavenly Father, bless our fellowship meal today, all we eat and drink to celebrate the life of St Ladoca. We pray that we are always worthy of her journey of faith.
The last verse of today’s Psalm, number 29:
The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ
Amen
